A whole home repiping project isn’t something we suggest any time a pipe starts leaking in your home. We’re not gonna try to trick you into any services that your plumbing system doesn’t need. But there’ll be a time when every house will need to be replumbed eventually because of the limited lifespan of even the best piping materials.
You’ll need a whole home repiping when you can’t seem to keep up with all of the plumbing repairs. If you fix a leak in your kitchen only to have another one pop up in your bathroom, you can start to feel like you’re in an endless cycle of leaks and repairs. Before you get too frustrated, you can have us come take a look to see what kind of condition your piping is in.
You may also want to have the piping in your home replaced if the materials aren’t up to current standards. You can replace those galvanized steel pipes or CPVC pipes before the problems even start and save yourself some trouble.
You might be able to save a few bucks by buying a generic brand of canned green beans at your grocery store. But installing piping materials isn’t a time to cut corners. Two of the best piping materials are PEX and copper piping. PEX is a flexible plastic piping that can be installed in many different situations. You can use it in places where more rigid materials would have a hard time fitting. Plus, it’s a great material when there’s a cold snap in Harrisburg. While PEX can still freeze, it’s also able to expand and is much less likely to burst.
Copper has been widely used since galvanized steel plumbing became less popular. It’s one of the best materials for your plumbing since it is strong and long-lasting. It even has antimicrobial properties and is resistant to rust. The downsides to copper are the expense and the fact that they can sometimes get little pinhole leaks over time.
