- Inspect your main electrical panel for loose connections, any signs of damage, and burn marks.
- Verify proper grounding and bonding (this prevents electrical shock).
- Check outdoor outlets to make sure they’re safe, secure, and sealed the right way.
- Conduct thermal checks of any and all panels.
- Check the function, voltage, and grounding of your receptacles and switches.
- Test your whole home surge protector if you have one. (If you don’t, you can ask your electrician about them! They’re the BEST way to protect ALL your appliances and devices from power surges).
- Examine visible wiring in your crawl space, attic, and/or basement.
