You might think clearing a clog is easy. After all, that’s what drain chemicals are for, right? No! There’s a whole aisle in your local store that’s dedicated to clog removal products that you shouldn’t even be putting near your plumbing, much less in it. Maybe that’s a little dramatic, but the chemicals that are in clog removal products are strong enough to destroy not only clogs but your pipes, too. Plus, you don’t really want those chemicals around your family or pets. Save yourself from bigger plumbing problems by staying away from the Drano and other chemicals and call Morris-Jenkins instead!
There’s a lot we can do with our drain clearing services to keep your pipes clean, but some of it will depend on you! Make sure you never pour hot grease or oil down your drains. It’ll cool off on its way down and stick to the sides of your pipes. If you don’t have a garbage disposal, you can get a good sink strainer to keep food from going down. You can also get a hair catcher for your tub. And then, for things you can’t control, Morris-Jenkins will be there to help.
So, if we don’t use chemicals, what do we use? For any clog, we have the choice to use drain cabling (you may know this as a snake, auger or rooter) or hydro jetting. Our drain cables are a lot better than the flimsy plastic snakes that come with some store-bought products. They can reach far into your pipes (up to 75 feet!) and target really tough clogs. Clogs caused by food, toilet paper, hygiene products, hair, and some tree roots are no match for a motorized drain cable.
Sometimes, clogs can be a little trickier to get rid of with a snake. If your pipes are lined with grease, oil, fat, bacteria, or algae, you’ll want something that gets every inch of your pipe. Hydro jetting can get rid of these clogs and can take care of other things like bigger tree roots.
