Every house and every situation is different, which is why we’re always ready to come up with solutions that are just as unique as your home. When you call us and have us come and inspect your plumbing, we’ll talk about the benefit of repiping your home vs repairing the pipes. And we’ll discuss financing options that can make everything a little more manageable. You’re in good hands with us because we know what it’s like to need unexpected plumbing work done on your home. It’s stressful, but it doesn’t have to be.
Whole house repiping is the process of taking out all of the old pipes in your house and putting in something new. Sometimes only a few sections need to be replaced, but replumbing your house usually isn’t needed until multiple areas of pipe start wearing out at the same time. This can be really common in homes that have galvanized piping or in situations where the original plumbing was installed poorly.
Any time we replace your plumbing with something new, we focus on doing the job right the first time so that in the future, you don’t have any of the problems that you may be dealing with now.
There may not be a magical formula that tells you when to repipe your home. But there might be a few clues. Here are a few questions to ask yourself while you keep an eye on your plumbing:
How Often Am I Having to Call for Repairs?
Piping that’s in good condition and made from good materials shouldn’t give you many problems. You shouldn’t have to call for leaks every month. If you find yourself regularly having to call the plumber for leaks, you may have your first clue that you’ll need a whole home repipe sooner rather than later.
What’s My Water Quality Like?
When pipes corrode, parts of the pipe can get left behind in your water. This is bad news with some types of piping materials because small amounts of heavy metals like lead and cadmium can end up in your drinking water as soon as the pipes start corroding. It’s always a good idea to have your water tested (we also offer water quality testing at Morris-Jenkins) and your pipes inspected to see if they’re contributing to any of your water quality problems.
Are There Any Other Plumbing Problems?
Leaking isn’t the only type of problem that can result from old piping. You also might notice low water pressure if mineral buildup has started collecting on the inside of your pipes. Constant plumbing problems of any type are a sign your piping isn’t working as well as it should in your home.
Plumbing companies can be a dime a dozen. But what you won’t find very often is plumbers who are willing to go above and beyond for your family. At Morris-Jenkins, going the extra mile is something we all do whether we’re on the job or not. It’s a part of who we are because we love being able to help other families in the community.
We’ve made it a part of our plumbing business by being the first company in the area to be here til midnight even on weekends and evenings. We always want you to be able to schedule services when they’re the most convenient for you because that’s common courtesy. We’re also transparent and honest. We’ll let you know exactly what to expect when repiping a house.
