The first question you may be asking when you smell that foul odor is whether it means you need to replace the whole system. We’re not gonna be able to tell you that until we get in and take a look at your sewer line. When there’s enough damage, we’ll suggest a replacement. Replacements are something we save for when there are problems in multiple areas or the entire line instead of just in one spot.

Old or Corroded Pipes
If your pipes were installed a long time ago, they may have just reached the end of their lifespan. Some materials, like galvanized steel, have a much shorter lifespan because they get corroded easily. You’ll know it’s time to replace them when you can’t keep up with all of the areas that are leaking or cracked.
Clogged Pipes
There’s one area where you have a little more control. Your sewer line is meant to be able to handle toilet paper and waste. Anything else can clog up your pipes. That includes items that are advertised as being “flushable” like some brands of baby wipes. You can also get clogs from grease and hair. If these things have ended up in your sewer line, it’s okay. We’ve seen it all and we can fix it.
Tree Roots
Unless you’re able to communicate with plants, there’s not a lot you can do about tree roots trying to make their way into your pipes. After all, they go where the water is, which in this case is your pipes. They can find the tiniest cracks and creep in, making the cracks a lot bigger in the process. You can put the pesky roots in their place by using our hydrojetting services and repairing the damage to your pipes.
