5 Signs You Need New Insulation

You deserve a home that stays comfortable without having to run your AC and furnace all the time! Without proper insulation, your home won’t be able to keep consistent temperatures without driving up your utility bills. Not sure if your insulation is causing some issues around your home? Here are the top signs your home needs new insulation!

1) High Utility Bills

If your home doesn’t have enough insulation, heat can escape your home easily in the winter, and it can sneak into your home just as easily in the summer. This means your heating and cooling system will continue running to try to keep your home at a set temperature. When you get new insulation installed, it’ll keep comfortable air in your home, maintaining a consistent temperature without running up your bills!

2) Uneven Temperatures in Your Home

For the same reason we talked about before, if you don’t have enough insulation in your home, heat will move in and out of your home when you don’t want it to, leaving things uncomfortable. With poor insulation, heat will rise and escape through your roof in the winter, which means rooms lower in your home are more likely to be extra cold. In the summer, the rooms closer to the attic will likely be hotter. To keep things more even, call Morris-Jenkins to install Comfort Cloud in your home today!

3) Your Air Conditioner or Furnace Is Always Running

Without enough attic insulation, heat can escape through your roof in the winter and seep into your home in the summer. When air can keep moving in and out of your home easily, it makes your heating and cooling system work so much harder to keep temperatures consistent! If you can hear your AC or furnace constantly running, it’s worth calling us out to make sure everything is working right and whether some new insulation would fix things up!

4) Your Walls or Floors Are Cold in the Winter

Do you keep slippers or fuzzy socks on all the time in the winter because your floors are too cold? We’ve been there! But we can help.

Usually, this is caused by poor attic insulation! When your attic isn’t insulated well, heat rises and escapes through your roof, instead of staying in your home. Because of that, lower parts of your home (like your floors and walls) end up feeling really cold. When you call us out to install proper attic insulation in your home, it’ll help trap warmth inside, keeping things cozier.

5) You Can See the Rafters in Your Attic

A lot of homes in the greater Charlotte area were built 15 years ago (or more!). Building codes were different back then, and they didn’t use as much insulation as is recommended now. Plus, over time, insulation can compact down and end up too thin. When your insulation is thin, it doesn’t help your home much. If you can see the rafters in your attic, it’s time for new, better insulation! When you call Morris-Jenkins to install Comfort Cloud, we’ll make sure your new insulation is thick. And Comfort Cloud STAYS thick for a very, very long time!
