If you don’t know what you’re looking for, plumbing problems can stay hidden for days, months, or even years before rearing their ugly heads—usually in the form of some kind of major inconvenience or damage to your home. This check-up includes a LOT. We’ve seen how devastating major plumbing problems can be, and we don’t want that for your family! That’s why we’re gonna take the time to look over everything we can. If you break it down, there are five main things we’ll check:
1) Main Water Shut-Off
If your home’s plumbing were to start flooding your home, you’d wanna shut it off FAST. That’s why it’s important to know your emergency shut-off valve is ready for a crisis. We’ll find it and test it, and we’ll make sure it’s easy to get to. If you don’t already know where it is, ask us and we’ll gladly show you! While we’re at it, we’re also gonna test your water pressure to make sure it isn’t too high or too low (either one comes with its own problems).
2) Water Heater Basics
Your family counts on your water heater daily for showers, washing dishes, laundry, and more! Do you know if it’s in good shape? One of our plumbing experts will take a close look at your water heater to check for corrosion or leaks. We’ll also do a safety check for things like temperature, gas, and carbon monoxide.
3) Pipes and Visible Leaks
Of course, we can’t look at all of your pipes (a lot of them are behind walls and under your floor!), but we’ll take a close look at the ones we CAN see, such as the ones under your sinks and ones in your basement/crawl space (if you have one). We’ll inspect them for visible corrosion, active leaks, or signs of water damage that could warn us of problems.
4) Toilets
Toilets are the kind of thing you never think about until something goes wrong with them. It’s easy to take them for granted! But our plumbers know how important they are to your family. We’ll conduct a dye test, which helps us check each toilet for leaks. While we’re at it, we’ll test out how your toilets flush and we’ll make sure the seal around the base of each toilet is in good shape.
5) Hose Bibs and Outdoor Faucets
This plumbing check-up doesn’t just take care of the plumbing inside your house, but some of the outside, too! We’ll check up to two of your outdoor faucets/hose bibs. This includes a test to see if everything is secure and working well. We’ll check for any leaks, plus we’ll make sure you’ve got an anti-siphon device installed (it’s a valve that keeps water flowing the right direction to keep your water sources clean). Sometimes, these devices are missing!
